Torta al cioccolato

  1. Preheat the Oven: Heat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a 22cm (9-inch) round cake pan with butter and line it with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the Chocolate and Butter: In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter over a double boiler. Stir until smooth, then set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the melted chocolate mixture, vanilla extract, and milk. Mix well.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients, folding gently until just combined.
  5. Pour and Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar or cocoa powder, or top with fresh berries and whipped cream.
